Gene drew this picture to symbolize our travels. What do you think he's trying to tell me? He's the one that came up with the title for this year's travel blog, too. Like it? Feel free to comment on it or on any of the blog entries to come.

The title is great. But, you never mentioned--did you have beans in Lima? Larry
Yo, Larry! We actually never ate a lima bean in Lima, although I saw them at the market - and we both love those things. The only beans I remember was the Tacu Tacu dish that Gene had on US Thanksgiving Day - see the photos on the Nov 27 post. I found this recipe (http://www.theperuguide.com/gastronomy/peruvian_cuisine_recipes/tacu_tacu.html) online and want to try it when we get back to Costa Rica. It was sooooo much better than our usual gallo pinto!
No, Mark, we haven't been to Montevideo yet. We're thinking maybe right after Christmas, but before the New Year when Argentina will apparently start charging US citizens to get back into their country (like the US charges them).
I'm kinda jealous of your traipsing around PerĂº and Argentina but...
I really enjoyed the narratives of your travels. It was interesting to have some descriptions of SAmerican countries to compare with Costa Rica:
No trash on the ground? No cellphones everywhere in the streets?? NO potholes??!! *GASP* What'll they think of next?
And all that Peruvian seafood you showed pics of. Looked scrumptious. (Have you ever tried 'Tierra Mar' in San Joachim de las Flores? Really nice Peruvian seafood. Marvelous smells from their kitchen immediately assail your nostrils the moment that enter the front door.)
"The flight to Buenos Aires has a layover in Lima, Peru," he says. "Peru. How interesting. So we should stop off in Peru for a few weeks, yes?" "Sounds right to me. November 12th OK with you?"

The Travel Plan
A few weeks in Peru, 1st in the capital, Lima, then in Trujillo, the 3rd largest city, said to be a beautiful colonial city. Will also visit nearby oceanside village of Huanchaco. Then onward to Argentina, where we will spend most of our time in Buenos Aires, with side trips to Iguazu, the world's largest water falls, as well as to Montevideo, in Uruguay.
You all know how much I love writing about our travels - almost as much as I love traveling. Everyone seemed to like our Guatemala blog (http://tallnedgyinguatemala.blogspot.com/) so here we are again - traveling in South America, learning about more countries, eating great food, meeting new people. You can click on the "Comment" at the bottom of any of the posts to leave your own comments for us. We will look forward to hearing from you!

I absolutely love this picture. Maybe Gene needs to start his own comic strip about your travels and your life. It would be a winner!
